Responsible for assisting Actuarial/Product Management Department with monitoring and driving company bottomline profit and loss (P&L) through various product, rate, and underwriting initiatives.
Update quarterly rate indications for all company product lines
Through various analyses, recommend product and rate changes/enhancements to senior management
Assemble form/rate/rule filings with corresponding support and submit through the SERFF system, including responding to any objection sets as necessary
Assist Actuarial/Product Management Department with developing various reporting metrics
Gather and report information on competitors related to form/rate/rule changes for senior management to evaluate, and to develop and implement plans to meet organizational goals
Develop business requirements for Policy Management Systems to implement form/rate/rule changes
Assist with the migration of various product lines to a new Policy Management System
Collaborate with other departments as necessary, including Accounting, Claims, Information Technology, Marketing, and Underwriting
A thorough technical understanding of insurance coverages, actuarial pricing techniques, actuarial rate indications, the rate filing process, and underwriting guidelines
Strong team player, with initiative, entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to effectively multi-task.
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to query large data sets
Experience with SQL, SAS, R, Python, or similar programming language preferred
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects at once and to thrive in a “fast-paced” environment
Prior experience with Predictive Modeling a plus
5+ years prior actuarial and/or product management experience
Experience with various property and casualty lines of business in the state of New York and/or Northeast states preferred
A Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) or equivalent in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, or another equivalent discipline preferred
Successful completion of CAS exams and/or CPCU exams preferred
