The South Texas Veterans Health Care System is a comprehensive health care network that services the veterans of South Texas. It is composed of two divisions and an extensive network of clinics. The main hospital, Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital, has over 200 beds, including three intensive care units, an inpatient spinal cord injury unit, an inpatient long-term rehabilitation unit, three inpatient psychiatry units, and a bone marrow transplant unit, in addition to numerous primary care and specialty outpatient clinics. Clinical Pharmacy is an integral part of the veteran’s care. We have over 70 clinical pharmacy specialists covering areas such as Internal Medicine, Primary Care, Geriatrics, Hematology and Oncology, Mental Health, Infectious Diseases, Cardiology, Critical Care, Antimicrobial Stewardship, HIV, Hepatology, Renal, Anticoagulation, Bone Marrow Transplant Neurology and Spinal Cord Injury. We have 8 pharmacy residency programs to include PGY1 Pharmacy and PGY2 programs in Ambulatory Care, Geriatrics, Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Pain & Palliative Care and Psychiatry.
