The ASHP-accredited PGY2 critical care residency program at Methodist Dallas Medical Center (MDMC) produces graduates capable of practicing as clinical specialists in multiple areas of adult critical care including medicine, surgery/trauma, and neurology. Graduates will possess the ability to collaborate with other healthcare providers and hospital leadership to optimize safe and effective drug therapy in critically ill adults and be qualified for the board certification exam in critical care. MDMC is a community teaching hospital that provides the opportunity to engage our residents in direct patient care, administration and project management activities, teaching, and research to produce clinical pharmacy specialists capable of an advanced level of practice.
Major projects for the residency year include a major research project to be presented at the regional residency conference (ALCALDE), a critical care focused drug use evaluation presented at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting, and two CE-quality seminar presentations to physician groups. Residents receive full MDMC employee benefits including insurance, sick time, and vacation. Travel support is provided for professional meetings.

Requirements for acceptance into the residency program include a pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, graduation from an ASHP-accredited PGY1 program or equivalent, eligibility for employment by Methodist Dallas Medical Center, full Texas licensure within 90 days of employment, and an on-site interview.
