Based on candidate's qualifications, candidate may be hired at either an Accounting Supervisor 2 (Grade 23) or Accounting Manager (Grade 24).The Accounting Manager serves as a Manager in General Accounting for UC Davis Health, comprising of the Hospital and clinics and the Primary Care Network and is responsible for hands-on managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, including month-end/year-end close and the annual audit, monitoring and analyzing accounting data, producing financial reports and statements, establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles, documenting appropriate accounting treatment for various transactions and supervising a team of approximately six team members.The Accounting Supervisor 2 performs complex professional accounting and financial duties for the Health System. Plans, develops and coordinates complex professional financial analysis in a highly independent manner. Prepares financial analyses and reports including variance analysis reports, statistical reports, and other ad-hoc financial reports for presenting to various levels of personnel, from departmental staff to senior management. Provides analytical support to improve finance processes. Acts as a general accounting liaison to various departments on an assortment of complex projects, including system implementations, process designs and redesigns, and financial system training. Prepares recommendations and financial models to assist the organization in improving Medical Center general accounting recording and reporting. Supervises staff.REQUIREDAccounting Manager: --Extensive experience with financial systems, including general ledgers, and budgetary systems--Experience working in a large and highly complex organization--Proven leadership skills in working with teams comprised of a variety of diverse individuals--Proven experience with advanced knowledge of accounting and financial management principles, theory and practice including knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) environment--Proven ability to research and document unusual accounting transactions, including references to citations--Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including formatting, Vlookups, IFs, Sumifs, and Pivot Tables--Proven ability to develop executive summaries, as well as detailed financial and statistical reports, including ability to present findings in a professional and clear manner to senior leadership, based on summarization, analyzing and accurately reporting on large volumes of data from multiple systems--Bachelor Degree in Accounting with CPA desired--Ten to 15 years accounting experience desired, preferably in a public accounting, healthcare or a higher education organizationAccounting Supervisor 2:--Advanced knowledge in accounting and financial management principles, theory and practice including knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) environment--Experience working in a complex organization--Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including formatting, Vlookups, IFs, Sumifs, and Pivot Tables--Proven project management skills with the ability lead a multi-functional team and to assume responsibility for coordination and completion of complex projects requiring interactions with many individuals--Demonstrated professional level of analytical, statistical and mathematical skills to conduct complex financial analyses--Bachelor Degree in Accounting with CPA desired--Eight to 10 years accounting experience desired, preferably in a public accounting, healthcare or a higher education organization SPECIAL REQUIREMENT - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
