Department Summary University Advancement is responsible for strategically positioning the University of Oregon to create awareness, build long-term relationships, and secure resources to further its aims. The division consists of approximately 200 employees primarily working out of Eugene, with offices in Portland and Bend. Departments within University Advancement include Advancement/UO Alumni Association, Development, Stewardship and Public Events, Advancement Operations, Federal Affairs, and State and Community Affairs.

Position Summary The Associate Director works within the community of Ducks, including alumni, parents of students and graduates, and professionals representing diverse industries, to activate the spirit of Ducks helping Ducks for career success. The mission of the Duck Career Network is to engage Ducks eager to offer career advice and support as well as those seeking insight and guidance for greater career fulfillment. Responsibilities include identifying and securing speakers, selecting networking venues and platforms, and promoting these programs to broad as well as targeted audiences. As host and facilitator of in-person and online networking events, the chosen candidate will create comfortable spaces that enable networking and relationship building and will make decisions relating to program development and establishing collaborative partnerships to create engagement opportunities that represent the interests and expertise of our constituents. This work includes travel and occasional evening and weekend work.
Minimum Requirements • Three years of experience organizing events, including two years of project management. • Two years of experience presenting, teaching, and/or leading groups. • Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications • Two-plus years of experience advising groups, including student groups, volunteer boards, and non-profits. • Two-plus years of experience with programs that connect people in the context of career services, recruiting/staffing, and/or higher education. • Experience launching new programs and initiatives. • Experience writing to inspire action via marketing, communication, and social media channels.
