Research Assistant - Public Health and Community Medicine, School of Medicine - (18001776)
This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.
The Department of Public Health and Community Medicine is a research and teaching department of the medical school. Our faculty currently represents a range of disciplines, including public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, medicine, nutrition, environmental health, and health policy. Our activities include community-based and clinical research on a wide-array of public health topics and the education of medical and graduate students in health-related masters programs including the Master of Public Health and Master of Science in Health Communications.
We are looking for an energetic and highly organized Research Assistant. The Research Assistant will work in collaboration with the Project Manager and Principal Investigator assisting with a study on substance use prevention among pre-adolescents through their parents/guardians. Potential candidates should have excellent attention to detail, organization and experience in process management. The Research Assistant will be heavily involved with recruitment and retention of study subjects, as well as data management, which includes 500 parent-child dyads from schools in the Greater Boston area. Travel to different schools, as well as participants' homes will be required. This position will ultimately help with all aspects of the day-to-day implementation of the multi-year behavioral research.
Bachelor's degree and 3 – 5 years of related experience OR Master's degree and up to 1 year of related experience.

Ability to handle confidential materials with discretion.
Ability to take responsibility for assignments and work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work successfully under pressure, understands and follows policies and procedures, and accommodates change.
Solid computer skills and proficient in the use of Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word.
Comfortable conducting home visits.
Written and verbal fluency in Spanish.
Strong writing skills.
Experience collecting data in a research setting.
Coursework in research methodology.
