The Digital Media Engineer is principally responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and operational maintenance during the warranty period as well as the development and turn-over of support procedures for digital media, video conferencing and audiovisual systems and applications. These include but are not limited to video and web conferencing technology, executive meeting spaces, video wall, digital messaging, wayfinding/kiosks and collaboration space technology as well as their integration with related IT services. The position is expected to have a broad knowledge of digital media technologies. Must be a self-starter with only general direction from the companies Collaboration Engineers, project sponsors and Real Estate/Facilities personnel. This candidate must demonstrate a high-level of creativity in the architecture and design of digital media and audio-visual systems and a high-level of problem-solving and resourcefulness working with third-party suppliers and others to diagnose and resolve operational issues and incidents with digital media and video conferencing services. The position generally operates under deadlines and works closely with IT service teams leading digital media projects and/or representing digital media technology. The position trains other staff for first and second level support of digital media and video conferencing IT services.
Manages and oversees the architecture and design phases of digital media and video conferencing initiatives. This involves working with third-party suppliers to validate the interoperability of design choices and the preparation of design bid and/or procurement documents.
Troubleshoots digital media and video conferencing systems such as telepresence components of unified communication systems codecs and video endpoints connected to a network and their integration and interoperability with related systems.
Provides knowledge of and liaison for Cisco WebEx and other video and web conferencing tools coordinating design support and incident resolution with third-party suppliers.
Manages and oversees the implementation and initial operation phases of digital media initiatives. This includes coordination of equipment installation initial programming and configuration testing deployment and documentation of operational procedures. The position trains other IT staff for first- and second-level support of on-going operations.
Manages on-going operations of digital media initiatives installing hardware, software and firmware releases and re-programming control systems for changes in operational requirements.
Monitors platforms and services proactively identifying and anticipating problems prior to them developing into emergencies and reporting recommendations to management.
Works closely with others throughout the IT department leading and/or participating actively on digital media projects and initiatives.
May initially provide after hours on-call support for critical systems issues as needed.
Keeps current with emerging technologies new products applications and trends within the digital media and audiovisual filed.
Functions as broadcast engineer when needed for high profile special events including live webcasts, town hall meetings, video recordings, conferences and board meetings.
Works on complex specialized projects and other duties as assigned Prerequisite
Five years relevant work experience designing implementing and/or supporting digital media and audiovisual technologies at a large division or enterprise level including.
Demonstrated experience in advanced operations of digital media systems. Demonstrated knowledge of video conferencing equipment and system design.
Experience managing video conferencing hardware and software including experience in implementing testing and troubleshooting audiovisual or networking oriented software features.
Experience configuring and programming video, audiovisual and digital media control systems.
Experience in the deployment & management of enterprise server-based audio/video monitoring systems.
A successful record of taking projects from concept to completion.
Expert knowledge of digital media architectures and control equipment and systems; projectors, microphones, speakers, cameras, codecs, bridging equipment and their interconnection over TCP/IP networks.
Strong oral written and communication and presentation skills in working with both technical staff and end users.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
Familiarity with codecs, compressions, HD/SD and display aspect ratios.
Understanding of basic network protocols and terminology such as VLANs and TCP/IP.
Experience in programming Crestron audiovisual control systems
Expertise with Cisco video endpoints and accessories, Webex Meeting, TMS, Codian bridges and other video conferencing solutions
Expertise with AppSpace, FourWinds Interactive, RMG Networks, MediaVue or BrightSign
