As an ambassador, the Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive engagement program designed to provide meaningful opportunities for volunteerism, service, professional development, and events and programs to maintain pathways for alumni participation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
(1) Create, plan, and implement a comprehensive engagement program for alumni and friends. Manage and implement local and regional outreach through alumni programs and special events. Ensure alumni attendance is maximized for all alumni and school events by using various channels including direct mail, listservs, websites, personal contacts, online tools, and social media. Manage follow up strategy to constituents who attended events or meetings. (2) Partner with admissions, career services, other school of law departments and the university to plan the growth and accessibility of networking opportunities for students and alumni. (3) Educate students about alumni benefits and engage them in programs. (4) Establish and build relationships with alumni locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally by maintaining regular communications via direct contact, email blasts, alumni web pages, e-newsletters, social media channels and print publications. (5) Support the work of the Law Alumni Association and Dean’s Advisory Board including scheduling of meetings, preparing the agenda, and providing all administrative support. Maintain regular communications with Law Alumni Association and Dean’s Advisory Board and committee members and other volunteer leaders including parents and students through telephone calls, e-mail and correspondence and assists volunteer leaders in their development of self-sustaining regional networks. (6) Serve as a liaison with University Advancement and other University departments to further the mission of alumni engagement. (7) Identify alumni, parents, and students through reviewing and updating biographical information of constituents. (8) Develop reports articulating program statistics (i.e. # of found alumni; # of updated addresses, alumni and student participation/membership; activity, etc.) to submit to Dean and Advancement leadership. (9) Make and supervise updates to central Advancement records (Raiser’s Edge). (10) Monitor effective use of the alumni web site and social media for promoting alumni and fundraising efforts/programs/ events. (11) Prepare and administer the Alumni Relations Department operating budget. Develop, sustain, and expand Annual Giving Program through the scheduling and planning of communications, events, meetings and other Alumni and Donor programs. Include current students in Annual Giving Program through a graduating class gift. (12) Work with the communications specialist to produce quality communications including e-newsletters, social media pieces, and print publications. (13) Assist with creating electronic newsletters and gathering of class notes and information on prominent alumni, conduct interviews and draft alumni and donor profiles for the alumni website and other related publications and electronic newsletters. Assist with drafting, writing, and distributing electronic (online) and print communications including invitations, notices, and newsletters. (14) Other duties as assigned.
A Bachelor degree Juris Doctor, preferred.
Two years to five years experience.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to represent the university professionally both internally and externally • Skilled at leading and executing projects and initiatives • Ability to collaborate and courteously work with colleagues, alumni and other constituents • Strong writing, planning, and organizational skills • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar database • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends • Ability to main confidentiality • Computer proficiency and ability to learn new programs
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
