The School of Art and Visual Studies (SAVS) at the University of Kentucky seeks applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Art Studio, Foundations/Drawing to begin August 2019 and end May 2020. The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester in our vibrant and contemporary Foundations Program, oversee the Foundations Drawing Studio and work with both undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of contemporary studio art and design practices. Drawing in our Foundations Program takes a traditional approach to perceptual awareness and articulation, while incorporating creative thinking, compositional strategies and conceptualization. The Art Studio Faculty recognize and embrace a broad approach to creative practices, engaging and challenging the conceptual, technical, and pedagogical aspects of art and design practice.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct creative research in drawing and scholarly research in Foundations and provide appropriate service to the school, college, and university.

Position Time Status: Full-Time
An MFA in Drawing or Art Studio is required before the date of hire.
Required Related Experience:
College-level teaching experience a plus but not required
Required License/Registration/Certification :
Prior active membership in Foundations in Art, Theory and Education (FATE) and/or participation in an Integrative Teaching International (ITI) program like ThinkTank is highly desirable. Ability to teach a variety of drawing practices in both analogue and digital formats preferred.
