The Network Engineer provides ongoing network, technical, and customer support for the campus wide Cisco and HP/Aruba based network consisting of twelve schools, over 700 departments, and in excess of 20,000 users. The Network Engineer is the primary escalation point for the team, and serves as the primary technical liaison between operations and engineering. Monitors the network for performance issues or outages, proactively recommending preventive maintenance, adjusting ACLs and firewalls, providing support for VPN, switch configuration, documentation updates, DNS and DHCP updates, 802.1Q adjustments, communication and notification, and all other level II troubleshooting and support. The Network Engineer spend spends a majority of time on operations project management, whether leading smaller lifecycle and datacenter upgrades to supporting larger engineering/architecture projects. They will consult with the customers on scope of work, build proposals with bill of materials for the project, develops project schedules and works with the vendors to order product. Collaborates with technicians on the process and requirements of the project and manages the workflow of the project to completion. The Network Engineer assists with training and mentoring colleagues and will lead event support activities and support the ticket queue. Participates in 24x7x365 on-call rotation. Some off-hours work may be required.

Union: 00 - Non Union, Exempt or Temporary
Technical degree or equivalent experience, and 3-5 years experience in network support.
Hands-on experience with most of the items listed; OSI model layers one through three, switching technologies, Aruba/HP OS, ClearPass, Airwave wireless, Cisco IOS, FortiOS, Spanning Tree, OSPF, Wireshark packet analysis, DNS, & DHCP.
Excellent technical writing skills and strong interpersonal communications skills.
Must possess strong understanding of the physical building blocks of a network, and general knowledge of network design.
Proven problem solving skills, attention to detail, and quality-focused service orientation required.
Position requires continuous moving around campus and working in confined spaces for extended time periods as well as the ability to lift 40lbs.
CCNA/CCNP certification or equivalent Aruba certification is a plus.
