Job Requisition Number: 25887. The Controller's Office provides oversight of various University financial services including financial accounting and controls, accounts receivable, accounts payable, contracts and grants accounting, and payroll. The Controller’s Office also provides analyst support for the PeopleSoft Financials system which consists of the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Commitment Control, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Contracts, Grants and Project Costing modules.
Supervisory •Leads a team of business analysis professionals with the planning and execution of unit integration and acceptance testing. •Supervises less experienced Business Systems Analyst in analyzing complex, large-scale, business problems where evaluation of data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. •Directs subordinate analysts in, preparing specifications for systems having critical, campus-wide impact. •Hires new employees, takes salary actions, conducts separations as necessary, and writes performance reviews for direct reports. •Participates in developing and monitoring operational processes, staff FTE, finance, human resources and space planning. •Participates, initiates, and recommends policies and procedures for department or department operations and monitors existing policies. •Advises and coaches staff members to assist with technical issues. •Supervises the development of methods and procedures on new assignments, distributes those to subordinates and provides leadership to other members of department. •Holds regular staff meetings with subordinates •Has independent authority to resolve employee complaints OR formulates and recommends a resolution to such complaints or work issues. •Authorizes vacation and time off for direct reports and approves timesheets •Works closely with Human Resources when employee may be in need of FMLA, Work Accommodations and Workers Compensation claims •Provides user support and training on highly complex issues and processes to staff and cross-functional teams. •Interacts with peer managers across the organization. •Oversees cross-functional teams to solve complex business or systems issues. •Reviews work of direct reports to measure meeting of department objectives.
Professional •Performs highly complex analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement •Provides specialized expertise to identify, evaluate and develop systems and procedures to meet users' needs. •May assist with the Request for Information (RFI)/Request for Proposal (RFP) process. •Reviews and approves procedures to solve technical problems related to computer system capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results. •Reviews and approves functional specifications to ensure that the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment have been considered. •Communicates technical information in a clear and concise manner. Interactions may require the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of a technical information concerning specific projects and schedules. •Analyzes the needs of functional departments against departmental priorities and helps to establish team priorities for feasibility studies and systems design and implementation to develop new and/or modify information processing systems. •Understands business needs and how business systems can support those needs. •May interact with senior internal and external personnel.•Minimum ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of PeopleSoft FSCM functional implementation or upgrade experience required. At least two (2) years of experience with version 9.2 required. •At least ten (10) years of experience with project management practices, principles, techniques and tools. Experience with Agile methodology required. •Superior knowledge of four (4) or more of the following PeopleSoft Modules: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, eBill, Security, Budget, Contracts, Grants and Project Costing. •Ten (10) years of experience with system conversion, customization and integration design and execution required. •Should have combined education or experience in both Accounting and Information Systems. The ideal candidate will have either a degree or have worked as an accountant and will have managed full cycle PeopleSoft Financials implementation projects across multiple modules. Full cycle projects include ERP software selection, implementation partner selection, requirements gathering, fit gap analysis, function design, development, testing, change management and post production support. Degree in Information Systems a plus. •Clearly understands the needs and concerns of the user groups in the organization and applies knowledge to better meet those needs. •Requires superior knowledge of business analysis function including business process mapping and PeopleSoft program design. •Sustained, proven ability to think analytically and use independent judgment in advanced, complex and demanding situations required. •Sustained, proven pattern in using creativity and initiative to analyze and solve problems of diverse scope while being able to consider the larger scope and context and how the immediate problem affects the end to end process. •Requires superior interpersonal and communications skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization, including superior writing skills.
