Sutter Health is an innovative, not-for-profit health system providing care to over 3 million patients. The American Society of Health System Pharmacy (ASHP)-accredited PGY2 residency is a one year limited term position (July 2019– June 2020). The residency offers on-the-job post-doctoral training for pharmacists to develop and demonstrate personal leadership qualities and business acumen essential to operate effectively within Sutter Health and to advance the profession and practice of pharmacy. The resident will work under the supervision of the Residency Program Director, assigned licensed pharmacist preceptors and residency site coordinators. The resident will design and execute a research study/health-system pharmacy project. During rotations, under the supervision of licensed pharmacists and Sutter Health Pharmacy Leaders, the resident will complete rotations in areas of competency focus that include health-system pharmacy leadership, clinical pharmacy administration in acute and ambulatory care settings, strategic sourcing and pharmaceutical contracting, health-system and hospital medication safety, formulary management, health plan administration - pharmacy managed care, finance and resource management, professional development, project management, and quality improvement. The resident will be expected to provide substantive support on assigned projects pharmacy strategic initiatives with core responsibilities assigned within rotation practice settings and areas of focus. They will be expected to present information to both pharmacy and health system committees to engage support and to oversee implementation of identified key projects. This PGY2 residency in Health System Pharmacy Administration is based in the System Office, Pharmacy in Sacramento, CA. The resident will also have responsibility for assigned rotations at Affiliate Hospital/Medical Foundation practice settings.

Must be eligible to license as a Pharmacist in the State of California
Must have successfully completed a PGY1 level residency program as a precursor to the PGY2 experience
