UW Medicine Enterprise Portfolio Management is seeking an Enterprise Portfolio Manager. This individual will be independently responsible for managing the daily activities related to managing the integrity of the enterprise project portfolio. This person will be part of a new group responsible for creating an Enterprise Portfolio Management (EPM) function at UW Medicine. The EPM Manager will be working with the Senior Director, Enterprise Portfolio Management, UW Medicine to create and establish new workflows, processes, documentation and visualizations to support decision making by executives and senior leadership. The EPM Manager will become a functional expert in the PPM (Project Portfolio Management) in order to allow for the optimal utilization of the PPM solution by executive consumers and senior leadership and other project management (PM) functions across the enterprise. This role will collaborate closely with the EPM Analyst and other shared service teams (e.g., UW Medicine Finance, UW Medicine IT Services) on reporting solutions. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead, design, and architect the definition of PPM information management principles, guidelines, patterns, and standards around qualitative data accuracy, reporting and measurements. Lead and monitor the deployment of PPM related systems throughout the enterprise. Provide mentoring, guidance and clarification to other process experts and implementation resources. Analyze existing measurement systems to understand and document qualitative data elements, relationships, data flow, dependencies, and related interfaces. Lead the portfolio tracking process improvement concepts/methodologies/tools/principles development, training and guidance. Coordinate standardized project risk assessment, budgeting, ROI, and evaluation of associated benefits for proposed projects, including a determination for how soon new project work can begin to avoid contention with existing projects. Continuously work to improve the governance and planning capability for the portfolio by integrating optimal ways of planning and organizing, acquiring and implementing, delivering and supporting, and monitoring PMO performance. Collaborate with business partners to ensure needs are understood and being met and work is moving smoothly. Perform root cause, performance trend analysis and work simplification studies in order to develop appropriate measurement control changes. Analyze measurement/KPI standards and metrics to provide solutions for improvements. Review analysis findings to recommend appropriate changes in process, requirements or data approach. Survey and analyze leading best practice benchmarks for PPM techniques and processes. Create, update and maintain measurement related documentation. Develop documentation/templates that provide value-add decision data for projects, portfolios and leaders. Prioritize and implement measurement and data change requirements based on critical business need. Develop, use, and review work aids, such as process descriptions, checklists, templates and guides to assist users with PPM. Partner with project management to integrate scoring models through each of the process gates to ensure continuous alignment with business strategy and acts as a basis for gate evaluation. Lead and drive process and measurement improvement plans for PPM affecting multiple functions and/or systems. Identify and implement changes to corporate and organizational level PPM measurement processes to improve productivity and reduce risk. Support PPM end-users including providing system expertise and new user onboarding.REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field of study AND at least four to seven years of demonstrated success/results in a portfolio management capacity (e.g., having overseen and managed multiple projects). Demonstrated ability to influence leaders, employees and teams to envision a different future state: -----Strong executive presence including communication and presentation skills with a high degree of comfort to large and small audiences. -----Demonstrated strength in data-based decision-making, analysis, influencing and storytelling. -----Experience in planning and managing cross-functional efforts. -----Experience generating business documentation such as building business cases, identifying personas, defining scenarios, narratives, and process flows. -----Proven experience motivating high-performing individuals; creating inclusive and collaborative team environment. High levels of competency with: PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, and Data visualization software (e.g. Tableau). An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements. DESIRED:Master's degree (MBA or MHA). Previous experience with Business to Business (B2B) and/or Business to Customer (B2C) software solutions (Salesforce, Constant Contact, etc.).Experience with lean/six sigma. Lean/Six Sigma Certification preferred. Familiarity with Business Intelligence (BI) concepts (SQL, EDW, etc.). Previous experience as a management consultant (external or internal) working with executive leadership.
