Surgical Pathologist with Expertise in Digital Pathology The Department of Pathology University of California San Francisco
The Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking an outstanding candidate for a full-time faculty position as a surgical pathologist with expertise in digital pathology and image analysis. The position entails subspecialized surgical pathology sign-out responsibilities and projects focused on practical applications of digital pathology.
Candidates must have an MD (or equivalent) degree, a valid California medical license (or qualifications to obtain one at the time of appointment), and be Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Preference will be given to the candidate with expertise in digital and molecular pathology/board certification in molecular genetic pathology. Candidates who also have demonstrated and participated in clinical and/or translational research will be given preference. The candidate is expected to participate in night and weekend surgical pathology call, departmental teaching activities for medical students, house-staff, and fellows, and interdepartmental conferences.
The ideal candidate will possess aptitude in project management focused on digital pathology and analysis, research skills at a level to evaluate alternative solutions and develop recommendations, ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing, and capacity to build collaboration within the department, and across UCSF Health and external partners. Preference will be given to candidates who have thorough knowledge of machine learning, statistical analysis, database design, extraction of data, and data management. Proficiency in computer programing languages will be beneficial.
Salary and appointment rank (Assistant/Associate Professor level in the Clinical X Series) will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience and training. This position is based in the Department of Pathology.
